Child and Family Clinic Plus is a new initiative whose goal is detection and promotion of early intervention with children who are found to have emotional or mental health needs.  Research has shown that children have great emotional resilience.  Providing early identification and treatment can promote quick recovery in children. It can help improve school performance, enhance peer relations and go a long way towards preventing long-term mental health problems.

This program provides mental health screenings in designated public schools with follow-up treatment available when it is determined advisable.  This new program is an initiative put forth by New York State Office of Mental Health and carried out by Mental Health Providers of Western Queens in the local community.  All HIPAA requirements are strictly adhered to and parental consent is required for both screenings and treatment.

In addition to providing early detection, Child and Family Clinic Plus extends services into the community by making clinical services available in the school setting and in the child’s home environment.  (Western Queens Consultation Center)
